Wild Rose Draft Horse Association Futurity
About the Futurity
The futurity is a new program designed to showcase the best young horses in Alberta Saskatchewan, and British Columbia. Fillies, colts, and geldings are eligible providing they are registered, or notified, with their Canadian breed registeries.
There are two parts to the futurity which is actually begining in 2008.
- The first part is a halter class for yearlings.
- The second part is for two year olds. It is a combination class that consists of three divisions. The horses are judged in a halter class, a rail/cart class, and a pattern driving class. Points are awarded for each class, and a winner is declared in each division.
The cost to nominate an individual horse is $50.00, and nominations close on December 31st of each year.
- 40% of the nomination fees go to the yearling purse
- 40% of the nomination fees go to the two year old purse
- 20% of the nomination fees go to the Wild Rose Draft Horse Association for administration
The cost to enter an individual horse in a class is $50.00. Only nominated horses are eligible to enter. 100% of the entry fees go to the purse for the class entered, in addition to the 40% of the nomination fees as mentioned above.
