WILD ROSE DRAFT HORSE FIELD DAY
The Wild Rose Draft Horse Association held its annual field day at Ray and Anna Stanton’s Double Tree Village Museum at Spruce View, Alberta the weekend of June 6 & 7th, 2015. This wonderful historic village features twenty five buildings full of interesting memorabilia representing a life time of collecting by the Stantons. A beautiful weekend allowed 30 draft horses and about 12 capable teamsters to plow, cultivate, disc, seed and harrow 10 acres. A large crowd attended Saturday to enjoy the field events, a beef barbeque supper by the Spruce View Lions and the musical jam session all evening.
Sunday started with breakfast by the Lions Club, a church service and then all the teams were hitched to finish the field work. This event was a chance for beginning teamsters to acquire knowledge and training from teamsters with years of experience. The club appreciates the hard work that Ray and Anna always do for this annual event on the first weekend of June.
